One of the greatest evidences of creation for me is the world around us. So many complex systems that seamlessly work together to create an environment where life can flourish.

Those who believe in evolution and those who believe in creation have the same set of evidence to draw their conclusions from, think about it, we have fossil layers, and weather systems and biological life to try and decide if we see the hand of a creator or the hand of gradual evolution. In this short article I want to take a snapshot of just one of these systems and consider it briefly in the hope that you will open your eyes to the magnificent things that happen around you each day, things that unfortunately are all too easy to take for granted.

Let us look first at what the Bible says about the weather:

Job 26:8 He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight
Job 36:27-28 He draws up the drops of water, which distil as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind
Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again

It isn’t until about a century ago that the weather system really started to get understood, and still now the complexities of it are still being worked out. God in his wisdom caused the weather systems to be recorded in the bible long before they have been rediscovered and understood by science. Out of all the water on Earth, only 2.75 percent is fresh water. The amazing thing about this water cycle is that it’s God’s method for purifying water, When evaporation takes place it leaves behind all the impurities, this fresh water suspends in the atmosphere, and rains again, flowing into rivers And watering the earth. Water is actually a chemical anomaly. It is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, two gasses, which form a liquid, if that isn’t strange enough oxygen and hydrogen, are extremely explosive – yet water is used to put out fires. Water can be a liquid, a gas as steam and a solid as ice. It is the only substance that as a solid is actually lighter than when it’s a liquid – with very good reason, God designed this to be the case because if it was heavier as a solid the ice would sink to the bottom of lakes crushing the fish and life that was contained therein.

If we believe in evolution we have to also believe that all these amazing facts about the sun and the water systems just by a happy chance all lined up and just worked, we are expected to believe that these systems just happened. Personally I don’t think these things work the way they do by chance, it is evidence of a creator, who has put these systems in place to complete a specific task. If you can see evidence of a designers hand at work in nature, open up your Bibles and consider the plan and purpose this creator has for the world.

Syria to be at peace with Israel

Syria is not mentioned by name in Bible prophecy. However, Israel will be surrounded by peaceful nations in the end times.

Syria today is in turmoil. The Assad regime has turned its military on its own people. Change is coming but it is hard to predict what it will be. Israel and Syria have shared a violent past during the period of their monarchies, each exploiting the others weaknesses.

As a neighbour to Israel, Syria comes into focus as a nation of interest because of Bible prophecy. The Bible not only covers the history of Israel but also its future. The future invariably involves the nations surrounding Israel because it cannot escape what will happen to this special people.

In prophecies concerning the end times Syria is not mentioned by name. The prophet Ezekiel sees a time that Israel will be revived as a nation in the latter days (Ezekiel 38:8 & 11). This nation is surrounded by peaceable countries:

8 “In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.
11 I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates.” (italics added for emphasis)

The Bible describes for us a peaceful state enjoyed by this regathered people. By implication, the prophecy reveals Israel must be surrounded by a people living in peace with her. One way this could happen is that Israel might absolutely destroy Syria’s military strength and dominate them. Alternatively, Israel may seek compromise through a negotiated peace settlement. The latter appears most likely, for we have seen decades of Israel’s military dominance that have failed to bring about a living in “safety.” Instead, Israel today has become a fortress of walls, bars and gates.

The “Arab Spring” will ultimately bring us closer to the conditions described for us by Ezekiel. However there could be another war before peace can be achieved in the area. We are certain, regardless of the means, that there will be peace in Israel before the multi-nation invasion of Israel of end times (Ezekiel 38:1-7) that will incite divine response.
